Check-In
Competitors must check-in at least 1 hour prior to the 10.30am shotgun start at the SGU Registration Desk. This will be situated in the entrance to Crail Golfing Society. Participants are required to attend the pre-event briefing, which will commence at approximately 09:50am. Handicaps will be updated at registration therefore no handicap certificate will be required.

Clubhouse
Competitors and their guests may use the clubhouse facilities. The dress code is smart casual. The wearing of jeans, shorts, sleeveless of collarless shirts and training shoes is not permitted. Shorts are permitted if tailored. Shoes worn on the golf course may not be worn in the clubhouse.

Catering
Prior to play each competitor will receive complementary tea/coffee and bacon roll. At the conclusion of play a buffet and a free pint of Belhaven Best courtesy of our sponsors will be served. Any food or beverage out with that provided by Belhaven and the SGU, will be at competitors own expense.

Format
The event is a shotgun start 18-hole medal team competition with a maximum handicap of 28 for men and 36 for ladies with 3/4 allowance given. To account for any difference between ladies and gents sss ladies may be entitled to courtesy strokes. The teams will consist of the captain and secretary from each club (or nominated club officials) who have entered the Belhaven Best Captains & Secretaries Championship. A maximum of 40 teams will participate. The best nett score recorded by any one of the two players in the team at each hole will be added to form an aggregate.

In the event of a tie for leading positions or for the final qualifying place the following countback procedure will be applied:

The lowest nett score for the last 9 holes (10 – 18) and if still a tie
The lowest nett score for the last 6 holes (12 – 18) and if still a tie
The lowest nett score for the last 3 holes (15 – 18) and if still a tie
The lowest nett score for the hole18 and if still a tie
Sudden death match play on the best nett score on the card, hole by hole from the 1st hole.

Substitutions
In the event of a captain or secretary being unable to compete in the regional final or grand final for any reason then the captain may be replaced by the vice-captain or fellow committee member while the secretary maybe replaced by the bar steward or equivalent.

Tees
Gents will play from the white medal tees; ladies will play from the red ladies tees.

Rules
The event will be played under the R&A rules of golf and the local rules of the golf club as determined by the SGU Events Committee. The SGU reserve the right to over rule any club local rule. The use of electronic measuring devices is permitted.

Trolley’s & Caddies
A limited number of trolley’s are available for hire on a first come first served basis.

Caddies are permitted however all food and beverage will be at their own expense. The use of motorised buggies is not permitted, however special exemptions may be granted in advance by permission of the SGU.
Qualifiers
The leading 8 team scores will qualify for the grand final. Qualifiers will be announced at the venue as soon as possible after play. Qualifiers will receive information regarding arrangements for the grand final after all regional finals have taken place.

Scorecards
Scorecards will be provided by the SGU and must be returned to the SGU Championship Mobile Office immediately after play.

Directions to Crail Golfing Society

Beware If you use an in-car Satellite Navigation system or web-based route planner, and set your final destination to the postcode of the clubhouse (KY10 3XN), you run the risk of being taken through fields on farm-tracks for the last part of your journey. To prevent this specify the postcode of the Golf Hotel (KY10 3TB) in the centre of Crail, from where the road to Crail Golfing Society is well-signposted. If your SatNav or route planner has the facility, you could alternatively specify that your journey to the clubhouse is to go via the Golf Hotel.

From Edinburgh and the south - Cross the Forth Road Bridge on the A90 and travel north on the M90. Leave the motorway at junction 2A and proceed east on the A92. At the first roundabout take the third exit and travel via the A921 south towards Kirkcaldy. At the next roundabout take the first exit and proceed via the A915 to Upper Largo and then the A917 to Crail.

From Glasgow and the south-west - Enter Fife via the the Kincardine Bridge on the A876. Travel east on the A985 and then north on the M90. Thereafter follow route (a).

Alternatively, go east on the M8 to the Forth Road Bridge and then by route (a).

From Stirling and the west - Travel east on the A91 to Milnathort. Proceed via the A911 to Windygates, the A915 to Upper Largo and the A917 to Crail.

From Perth and the north - Travel south on the M90. Exit at junction 9 onto the A912, then via the A913 to Cupar, the A91 to St Andrews and the A917 to Crail.

From Dundee and the north-east - Enter Fife via the Tay Road Bridge on the A92. Proceed via the A914/A919 to Guardbridge, the A91 to St Andrews and the A917 to Crail.
